Problem Description:
McAfee firewall if not properly configured may result in unintended consequences. Your internet connection or browser may get blocked. You may run into problems printing to your wireless printer. And even your emails may get blocked from being sent. It's important that the firewall be configured by a professional technician.

Configuring Properly McAfee Firewall:
Step 1 : Permitting Applications to Connect
  1. If an application is not configured in the Firewall to access the Internet, McAfee Firewall will block it to protect your computer.
  2. Open your McAfee application. Click Web and Email Protection. Click Firewall.
  3. Click Internet Connections for Programs drawer. Depending on the version of the McAfee software you have installed, this may be called Program Permissions.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and click Add. Click Browse and locate the file you want to add.
  5. Select the application and click Open.
  6. Set the access type you want using the options in the Access drop-down menu.
  7. Click Save.
Step 2 : Enabling Inbound or Outbound Connections on Ports
  1. In computer networking, a port represents a communication channel or endpoint. Computer ports represent virtual connections.
  2. Most applications such as browsers or email clients send and receive data from a particular port. Internet Browsers and Web Servers use port 80 to send and receive data packets.
  3. Open your McAfee Windows Security software. Click Web and Email Protection. Click Firewall. Select Ports and System Services. Click Add.
  4. Enter the Program name of the application with the System Service Name field. Enter a description of the application or service to help identify the new rule.
  5. Enter the TCP or UDP ports required by the application. Click Save.
  6. Verify that the application functions correctly.
