McAfee® Firewall Blocking Printing
- Printer spooler application is blocked by the Firewall.
- Wireless Printers IP address has not been added to the Firewall.
- Double-click the M icon in your taskbar. Click Web and Email Protection. Click the Firewall link.
- In the Firewall options window, click the Turn Off button. McAfee Firewall will confirm that you want to disable the service with a popup message.
- Test whether you can print a file.
- If you cannot connect print the file, turn on the firewall. The problem is with your Windows setting or your printer driver or printer hardware.
- If you can print a file, then the issue is with the McAfee Firewall configuration. Go to Step 2.
- Printer spooler is an application that runs on your computer that connects to the wireless printer. If it is blocked by the firewall you will not be able to establish connection to the printer.
- The printer spooler service app is typically named as c:\windows\system32\spoolsv.exe.
- Open the firewall settings and check if this application service is in there, if not, add it.
- Test whether you can print a file.
- If you cannot connect print the file then go to Step 3.
- Go to McAfee Firewall Settings. Select “My Network Connections”.
- Check if the Printer's IP Address is added to it.
- If not add all the local IP’s which you would like to trust.
- If IP address is already added, try to change the Security Level to “Work”.
- Save the settings and then try accessing the printer.
