Unable to (Completely) Uninstall McAfee® Antivirus
- McAfee Removal Tool that you are using is not the latest version and need the latest one.
- Windows registry entries created by McAfee maybe blocking the complete uninstallation.
- You may have tried this step before, but it may not be a bad idea to retry.
- Shutdown your computer, and restart it, exit from all programs that are in your Start Menu.
- Activate the “Add or Remove Program” control panel applet in Windows.
- Select McAfee software from the list shown & proceed to uninstall it.
- Download the MCPR tool from: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe.
- Navigate to the folder where you saved the file, and double-click MCPR.exe. When you see the User Account Control dialog box, click Yes.
- At the McAfee Software Removal screen, click Next. At the End User License Agreement (EULA) dialog box, click Next to accept the agreement.
- When prompted, type the Captcha information, which is case sensitive, to validate to application security, and then click Next.
- When you see the message CleanUp Successful, restart your computer. Your McAfee product will not be fully removed until after the restart.
- Windows Registry is a shared database that is used by Windows and all applications.
- Only qualified technicians should attempt to clean up Windows registry.
