Internet Explorer Home Page Hijacker Removal
- Browser add-on is malicious.
- Computer infected by a virus.
- Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar.
- Click the Tools button and then click Manage add-ons.
- Under Show, click All add-ons and then select the add-on you want to delete.
- If the add-on can be deleted, you'll see the Remove option. Click Remove and then click Close.
- If Add-On cannot be uninstalled go to Step 2.
- You may need a third-party tool if the add-on has been engineered to make un-installation difficult Leading securities companies such as McAfee, Norton, Kaspersky all offer free tools to do this.
- Download and install a tool such as Norton Power Eraser from https://security.symantec.com/nbrt/npe.aspx
- Run the Scan to remove Unwanted Application Scan and follow the instructions on the screen.
- When un-installation is complete, restart the computer. Check if the browser hijacker has been removed. If not, Go to Step 3.
- In Internet Explorer menu, click Tools and then Internet Options.
- Select the Advanced tab and click Reset. Again, click Reset in the Reset Internet Explorer Settings.
- Click Ok to exit and restart Internet Explorer for the change to take effect.
- If after Resetting the Internet Explorer, the problem is not fixed you need help from an expert.
