Microsoft Office Installation Hangs
- Print Spooler service is interfering with Office Installation
- Microsoft office files downloaded maybe corrupted
- Older version of Office files still on computer
- You can temporarily stop the Print Spooler service, try to install Office again and then restart the service to fix the problem.
- On a Windows 8 PC, type services.msc from the Start screen and tap or click services in the list of results.
- On a Windows 7 PC, click Start > Run, type services.msc, and then click OK. Look through the list of services, find Print Spooler, and open it. Click Stop.
- Try installing Office again. Once installation is complete, restart the print spooler service.
- Open Control Panel, and choose Programs and Features.
- In the Uninstall or change a program window, find and select the Microsoft Office product you're trying to install from the list.
- Tap or click Change, choose Online Repair and tap or click Repair.
- Setup may also hang if the older version of Office is not completely uninstalled.
- Install the Fix It troubleshooter http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9815935, click Save in the File Download dialog box.
- When it's done, click Open folder, find the file (the name should start with O15CTRRemove) and double-click it to run the troubleshooter.
- After Fix it has run, restart the computer and see if you can now install the newer version of Office.
