How to Restore Windows
- Not applicable.
- Windows Restore helps you restore your computer's system files to an earlier point in time. It's a way to undo system changes to your computer without affecting your personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photo.
- System Restore isn't intended for backing up personal files, so it cannot help you recover a personal file that has been deleted or damaged.
- To be able to Restore Windows to an earlier version, you need to first configure Windows to create what are called Windows Restore Points.
- To do so, Open System by clicking the Start button, right-clicking Computer, and then clicking Properties. In the left pane, click System protection.
- Click the System Protection tab, and then click Create. In the System Protection dialog box, type a description, and then click Create.
- Open System Restore by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type System Restore, and then, in the list of results, click System Restore.
- You will need Administrator permission. So if you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
- You will be then show a Windows Restore Wizard. Follow the steps in the wizard and choose a restore point to go back to an earlier instance of Windows on your computer.
