Windows Unable to Connect to Wi-Fi Network
- Windows device is out of range of the wireless router.
- Windows system clock is not setup properly.
- Wireless network device driver corrupted.
- If you are trying to connect to the Wi-Fi network from a room that is far away from the wireless router it is possible that this is the cause of the problem.
- Move to location that is closest to the router and see if the Wi-Fi network connectivity problem is solved. If it is, then the problem is the signal strength of the router. If not, then go to Step 2.
- If the problem is with the signal strength of the router try orienting the Wi-Fi router’s transponder differently or consider upgrading the transponder or purchasing a more powerful Wi-Fi router.
- Windows system clock may also at time interfere with your Wi-Fi network connection. This can happen if the year and the date has been set completely erroneously (say a year 5 years in future).
- Tap or click Change PC settings, tap or click Time and language, and then tap or click Date and time.
- Make sure the info is correct, or make changes as necessary. If you still can’t connect, Go to Step 3.
- If the driver for the wireless card inside your Windows Computer is either corrupted or not installed, this will cause connectivity problems.
- For Windows, you can update the driver using Windows Update, or you can install a driver manually if necessary.
- Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Update, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Update.
- In the left pane, click Check for updates. If there are any available updates, click the links to see more information about each update. Windows Update tells you if an update is important, recommended, or optional. Each type of update might include drivers.
- On the Select the updates you want to install page, look for updates for your hardware devices, select the check box for each driver that you want to install, and then click OK. There might not be any available driver updates.
